Hi...
I’m Mason! I’m a Couples and Family Therapy Intern here at Heartstone Guidance Center and a graduate student in the MFT program at Northwestern University. As a neurodivergent therapist, I utilize my professional training to support clients and provide affirming care across the neurodiversity spectrum. My areas of focus include supporting couples, families, and individuals with Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, C-PTSD, Trauma/PTSD, and many other areas. I also have a strong commitment to serving the LGBTQIA2S+ community with care that is inclusive, respectful, and empowering.

Professional Background and Experience
Before transitioning into the mental health field, I spent nearly ten years serving as a firefighter and licensed paramedic. These experiences gave me firsthand insight into how crisis, trauma, and systemic stressors impact not just individuals, but the families and communities around them. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Emergency Health Services from UT Health San Antonio and went on to complete both an MS in Management and Leadership and an MBA through Western Governors University. My work is grounded in a deep understanding of how trauma shows up in the body and within relational systems, and I bring that lens into every session.

Therapeutic Approach
I approach therapy as a collaborative and client-led process that respects the uniqueness of each person’s identity and lived experience. I don’t believe healing comes from one rigid method; instead, I draw from a variety of evidence-based models and culturally responsive frameworks to adapt our work to your needs. I combine a systems-thinking lens with a person-centered style, helping clients understand how their relationships, environments, and cultural contexts impact their inner and outer lives.

My therapeutic work is always neurodiversity-affirming and rooted in compassion and empathy. I hold space for complex emotions, identity exploration, and personal transformation. I support clients in deconstructing internalized narratives, recognizing the effects of systemic harm, and creating space for new ways of being. My intention is to meet each client where they are - with authenticity, presence, and care.

Inclusive Couples Work
In my therapeutic work with couples, I prioritize building understanding, communication, and emotional safety. I recognize that each partnership has its own rhythm, needs, and dynamics. Whether you’re navigating differences in neurotype, processing ruptures in connection, or seeking better ways to support one another, I offer a collaborative space where all voices are heard and valued. I am affirming of all relationship structures and identities, including queer, non-monogamous, and gender-expansive partnerships.

Models and Modalities I Draw From
To ensure a flexible and tailored experience, I incorporate a range of clinical approaches in my work, including:

· Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST)
· Multicultural and Contextual Approaches
· Narrative Therapy
· Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
· Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
· Bowenian Therapy
· Structural Family Therapy
· Strategic Therapy
· Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
· Person-Centered Therapy
· Mindfulness-Based Practices
· Somatic Tools and Guided Meditation

These models help us explore how past and present systems shape your story, which will serve as a guide as we begin rewriting your healing journey in ways that feel aligned and authentic.
