Hello...

My name is Alex (he/him). I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of Michigan. I am Autistic and ADHD. I was diagnosed with ADHD while in college and Autism several years later, so I am all too familiar with those feelings of neverending burnout, overthinking every little thing, never quite fitting in at work, and feeling like you are struggling in a system that just doesn't feel like it was built for your brain. As a therapist, I use both my professional skills and my lived experience as someone who is neurodivergent to work with others who are also neurodivergent.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and affirming. You are the expert on your life and experiences, I am here to work together with you.  I draw from person-centered, trauma-informed, and cognitive behavioral frameworks, and I work to make sure the space we create together feels low-pressure, nonjudgmental, and genuinely accessible. I believe in focusing on someone’s strengths and affirming their neurodiversity and doing so in a safe, judgement free space.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent four years working with veterans and families experiencing homelessness; helping connect them to long term, safe, stable housing, mental health, and healthcare services.  This experience deepened my understanding of systems navigation, institutional barriers, and the exhaustion that comes from advocating for yourself in spaces not designed with you in mind. These things are hard enough on their own, and can feel impossible when you are already struggling.  It also reinforced how meaningful it is to have someone in your corner who truly understands.

I work with adults of all ages, including older adults, across a range of concerns including ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use, among others. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who have received a late diagnosis of ADHD and/or autism; especially those who are newly diagnosed and processing what that diagnosis means to them. I also have experience working with veterans and have a deep respect for the unique challenges that come with that experience.
