Therapy for Emotional Balance and Wellbeing

Amy Duffy-Barnes, LMSW - Clinical Therapist / Owner

Therapy is a holistic process that involves your mind, body, and heart.

Therapy increases self-awareness, helps you to process past traumas, create new coping strategies, and explores ways to reduce life stress.

We specialize in providing therapy services to a neurodiverse population, offering support to people with Autism, ADHD, and OCD.  We believe that all neurodiversity is a form of human diversity and that there isn't one 'normal' or 'correct' type of neurocognitive functioning. We reject the idea that Autism, ADHD, or OCD brains are disordered or need to be cured.  There is no scientific basis for labeling the neurodiverse as disordered. This is a reflection of adopted cultural norms that pathologize divergent neurotypes and allow for oppression and discrimination against them.

We are committed to helping neurodiverse clients heal from internalized oppression and find ways to celebrate and explore their neurodiversity. We believe that it is possible to live harmoniously in this world without masking or trying to change who you are.

We advocate for Racial and Social Justice

“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.”

Audre Lorde

Heartstone Guidance Center stands with our Black, Indigenous and People of Color Community Members. We condemn systemic racism and the oppression of People of Color.

We respect and understand that our BIPOC clients have unique identities and cultural experiences. We acknowledge our differences while remaining commited to inclusivity. We acknowledge the impact of race, racial trauma, oppression and ongoing microaggressions on the lives and experiences of our BIPOC clients.
